In this article we’ll go through some great examples of sites using red, green and blue as their base colors, i have started with primary colours and in future articles will move on to the secondary ones, or even tertiary. Blue as base colour
Blue is a very calming color, it depicts peace, tranquility and it shades of blues infuses purity, trust, it is mostly preferred by men. There was a time when it was highly used by corporates and NGO’s, but now its also used by other different types of sites. In the list below i have tried to put in front of you some beautiful designs using blue palate, and here sky is not the limit !!
The site uses a mix of blue and green a perfect blend for anything natural and artistic, and being a webdev site it suits the theme perfectly.

This one is not truly bluish rather its a mix o blue pink red etc but i find the blue to stand out most and its apeealing…
Uses a highly cloudy interface even the portfolio pics are animated the cloudy way, i sense a professionalism when ever i visit the site.
Now their main url does’nt goes with the ocean, i don guess anybody will jump and suicide in ocean to start a business but after stumbling the big words below the theme is clear.
This one looks really cold and icy another great example of bluish designs.

I really like the design and interface, the theme is correctly depicted with the tangled threads at one end and untangled colorful rope in other. Great mixture of colors with blue.

Green as base colour
Whenever i see green it makes me feel as if i gained some energy, even the backstage’s used to be green , hence name green room, The core color of mother nature represents tranquility, health, renewal. It can be used as both warming and cooling effect. Lets browse through some awesome green sites.
The stock image is a facelift in itself, the whole piller of the coolness of the site is the green image, used with gray it gives a warmth and sporty look.
This one uses different shades of green stripes, looks great, worth viewing.
I never knew green could be so effectively used with other shades such as blue. shades of blue and green gives a feeling of growth in it.
This shade of green used by the site is a perfect example of how green can bring warmth, 1st look at the site warms your mind.
Green and brown perfect for depicting recyclable items, nicely used in the example above.
Enter Web 2.0 Illustration, shades of green in illustrations and apple text looks really cool.
Don’t know how the color is related to the software, but design looks really good, specially with the stripes.
Outdoorsy color if green mixed with yellow, its refreshing.
What i really like about this one is how the implemented images, vectors and of course their own brand logo with such cool looks.
This one is worth a watch, of course due to the beautiful photoshopping, green with blue is my all time favorite.

Red as base colour
Red is the color for excitement, energy, power, intense emotion. It is not much used web designs, and used sparingly as its extreme color and tiring to eyes, but as always there are exceptions. I prefer not to use it as base color, but as highlights, but everyone have their choice.
Site of a wine company, darkish red goes with the color of wine, black and red together gives seductive feel.
White is the most soothing highlight with red, and this one uses it.
I specially like this one due to its non standard design, kinda unique.
Again red-white, almost a rule.
Red-yellow, red-tints, whatever i find this looking good but i think they should have more white though.
This one is the best red site i can find, with perfect shiny radial gradients and shadows, and great yellow highlights, being a hosting company the red in the highlight image attracts the customers, i find this pleasing.
Very very simple, but very nice !!
This one’s have great textures with the reddish background, worth viewing.
